I have mentioned in this blog that I recently joined Facebook. I have really been enjoying Facebook and have found many friends through it. Last week, I was thrilled to find Adam, one of my best friends from high school. We had lost touch when we went off to different colleges, and I was so glad to hear from him again. I was looking forward to catching up on 19 years of life that happened since we last spoke.
He filled me in on his life, and also gave me a piece of shocking news. Our mutual friend and part of the group of seven that I hung out with the most, Stephanie, had developed cancer several years ago. She passed away last year. I was so shocked and saddened by the news. I felt hypocritical that I was so upset as I had not spoken to Steph since we graduated and she was a very good friend. We had our differences and a little spat that led us to pull apart. Still, I somehow thought that we would meet again somewhere, sometime. Now, she is gone from this Earth. She was only 35 years old. It made me wish life were different, but glad to have the people I do have in my life.
I hope to rekindle my friendship with Adam. I will hold the high school version of Steph in my memory for as long as I live.

You made a nice tribute to Stephanie by mentioning her on your blog. I have lost several very dear friends and family members who I think of often. Most of us learn much from life experiences and some never learn or learn too late in life.
Glad you are in touch with your friend Adam.
That's both nice (that you're now in touch with Adam) and sad (about Stephanie).
Life's a bitch sometimes :-(
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Stephanie. It's difficult sometimes when you separate from good friends. But also nice when the friendship is rekindled. Hope you and Adam stay in touch with one another.
