No Playoffs for Me

Well, it's old news by now, but it has taken several days for me to be able to write about it. My beloved Canes did not make the playoffs. They had to win their last game of the season - beat the Florida Panthers at the RBC Center. They had beaten the Panthers 14 straight times at home, but it was not to be last Friday night. The Canes finished the season, where they lead their division for all but 14 days, in 9th place. On the day it mattered, they were no longer in the lead.

Needless to say I am disappointed. I have my playoff tickets here at my desk. I am trying to decide if I should throw them out or use them as some sort of streaming decoration. That's all they are good for now. On the bright side, I do get my money back and my schedule is free for the next 2 months. I am trying to be positive.

I will be back in the stands next season. Let's hope it goes a little bit better that this disappointing end.

I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner, but I've got you added to my blogroll, Susan. I've enjoyed seeing your occasional comments at COI and appreciate your readership!

Now, how does one join a "beer drinking club" ???

Sorry about the Canes. Next year will be better. Does Kristi Yamaguchi attend the games?

**Wufpirate - I have really enjoyed reading your site and am thrilled to be on your blogroll. Us Caniacs need to stick together, especially after the disappointment of the LAST game. Want to join the beer drinking club? Just come to the Flying Saucer on Wednesday nights - I am usually there trying to earn a plate on the wall!

**Maggy - I hope next year will be better, but there has been many comments in the local papers about "changes" coming for the Canes. I hate changes. We'll see what happens this summer. I know Kristi has come to games in the past. I believe there is a special viewing area for families where the kids can run around, but they can still see the game on the stadium screens. I know she was in one of the boxes when they won The Stanley Cup. That was the only time I saw her at a game. There were big announcements that she was going to be on DWTS this season.

Thanks for the input about Kristi and the hockey games. I'm a big fan of DWTS and have been reading more about Kristi and her family, and then realized who her husband is and why they have a home in Raleigh. Kristi is doing very well on DWTS. She has that competitive spirit and is talented. Marlee Maitlin is amazing to dance so well even though she is deaf. It's fun entertainment.
